The Pacific needlefish (Tylosurus pacificus) is a slender, elongated fish found in warm, shallow waters of the eastern Pacific Ocean. Recognizable by its spear-like body and long, pointed jaw filled with sharp teeth, it can grow over a meter long and feeds on small fish, hunting with speed and precision. While not commonly targeted in sport fishing, it is frequently seen in the waters around Baja California and other tropical regions. Occasionally, it may leap out of the water, posing a rare risk to people on boats.
