About the original print
This is a 42 inch male mahi-mahi caught in the Pacific Costa Rica. It was printed twice in order to create a scene of this fish that commonly can be found in large schools. Unique piece for the ones that have big space on the wall. On this particular one I wanted to put a differect color on one of the mahis, I love them when they show their blue colors. Have a closer look to the pictures to see de impressive detail of the scales and fins of this fish. Printed over rice paper using the tradictional Gyotaku direct method.
About this species
Mahi Mahi, also known as dolphin fish or dorado, are vibrant and fast-swimming pelagic fish inhabiting tropical and subtropical oceans. Recognized for their iridescent hues of gold, green, and blue, Mahi Mahi are prized for their acrobatic displays when hooked, leaping out of the water during fights. Feeding on smaller fish and squid, they’re highly sought after by anglers for their striking appearance, energetic fights, and delicious taste. Mahi Mahi’s dazzling colors and impressive speed make them a captivating subject for Gyotaku prints.
